How would you describe your work?

I would describe my job as an artist as a precise and exclusive relationship with images, almost like a surgeon with the human body. It’s intimate, it’s instinctual and it’s of course existential. I make compilations of images that I organize in series. And the most important thing, is not getting bored with what I do, so I take risks and I have fun, I destroy, and I build.

Is there an approach with which you converge when starting new work and what is your way of working in the further process?

I use layering to orchestrate the organization of the images I want to treat. Throughout this process, I also leave space for spontaneity.

How did you find your style? How was your process up to that point?

I don’t consider my work as style based. An artist’s style is defined by observers and not by the artist himself.

There are schools that interest me more than others, Germany in the 80s, movie director’s cut in the 2000s and the Metabolism in architecture. These are only a few examples.

At the beginning, when I was around 15 my close environment was my main source of inspiration, mostly what I saw in the street. And then I discovered there were other sources, there was a culture beyond my neighborhood, in magazines. And that’s when everything changed. I fantasized becoming a part of this scene and, in order to do so, I had to find a style of my own. That’s when I started practicing graffiti over and over. And then 20 years later I suddenly wanted to change my form of dialogue.

I combine gestures and visions to make paintings. These paintings aren’t only an expression of my inner intimate world but most importantly they are a result of what I absorb everyday: social issues, nature, design, history, objects, body forms etc.

What influences do you have in your work?

There are thousands of influences, so many authors are very interesting. From thinkers to B movie makers, I dig it all.

I am intrigued by hybrids, amalgams where the parti-pris and / or risks-taking plays a crucial part in the aesthetics of the work. I like to see humor and I research a form of variety and density within the languages.

What is driving your artistic expression?

When I look at Elisabeth Murray I instantly want to draw and paint shapes. I was drawn to art thanks to some creative individuals who made me want to become an artist.
If I had one desire, it would be to produce a form of art that could spark creativity amongst others. For me, it is a necessity to build this humanistic chain.
